Here is a partial list of links to sites that I enjoy.  They were useful to me during my genealogical search and during the creation of this website.  If you are in search of your genealogy or have an interest in organizing a family reunion, you will find these links very useful.

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is a research unit of The New York Public Library.  A national research library, it is devoted to collecting, preserving and providing access to resources documenting the experiences of peoples of African descent throughout the world, with emphasis on blacks in the Western Hemisphere.  This is a fascinating place to visit if you are ever in the New York area.  The decor is exquisite!!

National Archives and Records Administration

The National Archives for Records Administration (NARA) ensures for the citizen and public servant, for the President and for the Congress and the courts, ready access to essential evidence.  Services available to the public include genealogical research, naturalization records, microfilm research, and archives.  This is a fasinating place to visit.  Be sure to take lots of coins for the copy machine.

African American Genealogy Group

The African American Genealogy Group (AAGG) was founded in 1989.  Its mission is to promote genealogical research in the African American Community.  The organization offers workshops, seminars, and group trips to the archives of states were families originated.  It offers assistance to indivduals or groups who are conducting genealogical research.  This is a membership organization.

AfriGeneas African Ancestored Genealogy

AfriGeneas is a site devoted to African American genealogy, to researching African Ancestry in the Americas in particular, and to genealogical resources and research in general.  In addition, it is an African Ancestry research community that features the AfriGeneas mail list, the AfriGeneas mesasge boards, and daily and weekly genealogy charts.

The Family Reunion Institute

The only organization of its kind in the United States, The Family Reunion Institute of Temple University serves as a resource to families having reunions.  Since 1990, the Institute has worked to strengthen and preserve the extended family, support and enhance family reuions.  The Institute also serves as a catalyst for carrying out critical extended family functions such as transmitting a sense of identify and direction, and strengthening values.  Dr. Ione D. Vargus, Professor Emerita, and former Acting Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Temple University, is Founder/Chair of the Institute.  She serves also as volunteer Administrator.

Reunions Magazine

Reunions Magazine is the only publication for all reunion planners - family, class, military, and others.  If you are a beginning or experienced reunion organizer, this website has all the help you will need.  It includes a comprehensive source of reunion resources, tips, ideas, and advice to assist with planning your first or next reunion.  Check it out!
